Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has candidly revealed his preferences to the voting public – just not the kind that actually matters in politics.
Mr Abbott was asked a series of questions about his lifestyle preferences live on air by the Austereo Network in Brisbane on Wednesday.
The opposition leader liked his Fords more than his Holdens, would drink wine over beer, and preferred peanut butter to vegemite – all pretty standard, really.
But when it came to more intimate issues, it turned out this was one gentleman who did not prefer blondes.
Mr Abbott rated brunettes higher, before nominating a “head scratch” over a foot massage, and umming and aahing about the choice of kisses or cuddles.
“Can I have both please?” he asked.
Predictably, Mr Abbott also preferred the beach over snow, thongs over sandals and “budgies” over boardies.
He chose “neither” when presented with the options of former prime minister Kevin Rudd and his successor Julia Gillard, but opted for both when asked to rate “Abbott and Costello”.
“They are both great blokes,” he said, laughing.
Abbott and Costello were a famous American comedy duo.
Peter Costello was treasurer in the Howard government and has made unflattering comments about his former colleague Mr Abbott in the past.
