Greens want school projects to continue

The Greens are pleased they supported the Building the Education Revolution (BER) project and will keep pushing to see the school projects continue.

The taskforce that reviewed the government’s problem-plagued economic stimulus scheme has found building costs under the program were inflated by up to 12 per cent.

“But overall the Greens are pleased that we supported this package from the beginning,” she said.

The Greens saw it as opportunity to catch up on the underfunding in schools.

“If it had been up to Tony Abbott, $16 billion would not have gone to schools.”

She said the Greens would continue to push to see the school projects continue in an efficient manner.

“That’s something the Greens will make sure we push for and ensure happens – particularly if we are in the balance of power with an Abbott government.”
