Protesters gather outside Liberal launch

Posted on August 8, 2010

Small groups of protesters have gathered outside the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the venue for Opposition Leader Tony Abbott’s policy launch in Brisbane on Sunday morning.

Work Choices, environmental concerns and asylum seekers were their three main issues.

The most prominent was a group of 20 cyclists led by four riders in Mr Abbott’s trademark red budgie smugglers protesting against Work Choices.

Other Work Choices protesters gathered opposite the venue in South Brisbane.

Ellie Webb of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition said her group was protesting the lack of policy on climate change.

“We’re just making sure they can’t ignore climate change like they have been,” Ms Webb said.
